So- the first classes at 'Rising Crane Penarth' are only 2 weeks away.
Thanks for all of you who have booked a trial lesson online.
I have been getting some good questions, so I thought I would send a group email to everyone.
(If you have any questions that I do not address here, just reply to this email and I will shoot you a personal reply.)
Class dates, times and prices:
The course is 12 lessons taught 2
classes per week over 6 weeks.
If you have booked a. Monday/Wednesday course:
Your first lesson is Monday 7th November.
If you have booked a Tuesday/Thursday course:
Your first Lesson is Tuesday 8th
November.
The total course price is £99.
(Equivalent to £8.25 per class, which doesn't even get you 2 drinks these days!)
If you want to continue after the trial you
can pay the remaining £89 -you can do this by cash, card or bank
payment.
You don't need to pay anything on the day of the first lesson,
you can decide in your own time, there is no pressure.
Please come at the time and day you booked, as I am monitoring the numbers in each class.
If you want to change, just
drop me a message and if there is space, I will change it.
Is it twice per week?
Yes, guys- it's twice per week! I know that doesn't suit everybody, but I promise you will learn so much faster, and get so much more from the training. Perhaps you have been to a class in the past where it's once per week and people just join in any
time. Every time a new person joins- the instructor has to repeat everything and it gets frustrating when you don't feel like you are progressing, right? Well, this is a structured course that starts from the absolute fundamentals and takes you as far as you want to go.
What happens after the 6 week course?
If you miss this
course, no problem, I will be doing another one in the new year.
If you complete this course and want to move on, there will be a follow up course. As the students get better, I will teach more advanced material. Of course, if you want to repeat a course to pick up more details, or you want to move up at your own pace, that is fine, too.
Next year will have three terms, along with the school terms.
This means that you will have three structured courses of material, with breaks in between.
So you will not get behind or miss anything when you take a holiday etc.
I am older/unfit/have an injury- can I
still learn?
The tai chi courses are extremely gentle, and low impact. If you can walk up a flight of stairs to get to the classroom, you are good to go. The class incorporates 'moving meditation' so is very calming, but you will improve your core strength, leg strength, balance, bone density as well as training your mind with the lovely, flowing movements.
I haven't booked a trial yet, can I just show up?
Unfortunately, not. Please book first as places are limited.
Can I just watch?
Also for just coming 'to watch'- you can see a lot of my classes and teaching on Youtube free of
charge.
(Links on my website)
People who are just starting out may be a bit self conscious and not appreciate people watching.
Everyone is learning together- we are all friends, no judgement.
(Kung Fu students Only): Is there
contact sparring?
We will have a matted area and will be having sparring with protective equipment for those who want to engage in it. This will not be in the initial 6 week course, though. The sparring will incorporate striking, grappling and defence against knives and other weapons in a functional and progressive way. It is a lot of fun!
For those who only want to learn for fitness/culture and only
enjoy practising the forms then you don't need to engage in the sparring- but if your goal is self defence, then there really is no other way to learn than 'live' practise.
OK! I will send one more email next week as a reminder (Not spamming you!)
If you haven't booked a trial yet, there are a
few places left
Also- if you booked a Tai Chi, and want to try Kung Fu as well- then the second course will be
half price. So if you book a trial online and you enjoy it and wish to continue, you just pay the remaining £39 for the whole course.
For the Kung Fu course, you do not need to be fit
to start, but please expect a more physically challenging class than the Tai Chi one.
OK- below is a map, and a timetable for the 6 week courses starting Monday 7th November.
The classroom is on the second floor above 'Motts Insurance'
The big signs may not be ready for the first lesson, but you will
see an open door that says 'Rising Crane' and I will be upstairs.
If you are still 'on the fence' about joining, I absolutely guarantee a refund of your £10 trial if you decide you did not get value from the lesson, no risk, no questions asked. So click the links below before the spaces or gone or the course has already started:
I am really excited about starting this brand new location, and to meeting all you lovely people!
See you very soon,
Sifu David.
